Look no further, Anna is who you want to go to for acupuncture. Not only is she an expert at her craft, but she genuinely wants to help you “graduate” from your pain/issue. It is clear helping people is not only her passion, but her gift.

I had suffered from tendonitis in the past and where time off of work, physical, and occupational therapy failed me, acupuncture worked quickly and permanently. The practitioners however, didn’t leave such a great impression. So when my husband and I decided we wanted to start a family, I knew that I wanted to do acupuncture but didn’t know who to trust with such a sensitive issue.

A good friend recommended Anna. She received regular treatments and got pregnant fairly quickly although her doctor had told her she wasn’t ovulating and recommended fertility treatments. She emphasized Anna’s sincere desire to help and recommended I go to her website and read the case studies and watch the videos. I couldn’t believe the wealth of information on the website and how comprehensive her work was! This convinced me to give Anna a try.

At the time I was 34 and by western standards on the brink of “high risk.” After my initial consultation Anna had put all of my fears to rest. I was actually excited about the journey to motherhood instead of fearful. I began regular treatments 2-3 times a week and looked forward to each one. I had never felt better in my life. I was sleeping better and had great energy. Long story short, I became pregnant after trying for 1 month!

Soon after, morning sickness hit. I suffered from severe nausea and again looked to Anna for relief. I continued my regular treatments and the symptoms subsided to a manageable level. As my pregnancy progressed she treated me for the typical issues: fatigue, back pain, heartburn, etc. At 9 months, I got a severe cold and acupuncture again came to my rescue as I couldn’t take any medication. Just one week later, my baby came! Labor was fairly easy and I healed very quickly as Anna said I would. Acupuncture kept me in great shape both physically and mentally.

I have since recommended Anna to numerous people and endorse her work completely. In fact, she is the first person I will go to with a medical issue. I don’t entirely understand how acupuncture works, but it DOES WORK! Give her a try. I guarantee you won’t be disappointed.

LABOR AND DELIVERY

I was recently pregnant with fraternal twins and my doctors told me on a Friday that I would need to be induced the following Wednesday, the day I would reach 37 weeks. This was a precautionary move, as we had all just learned that I had cholestasis, a somewhat rare liver disease that appears only during pregnancy. My goal from the beginning of my pregnancy was to deliver vaginally, which my doctors thankfully supported. I also planned to get an epidural, but really wanted to avoid other interventions and medications, such as Pitocin. I knew that induction would involve Pitocin to get my labor started, and from what I had read and heard, this often creates intense contractions and sometimes leads to emergency cesarean births. I had been meditating and visualizing about my delivery for months, and induction was certainly not part of the “plan.”  My husband and I immediately started researching ways to “self-induce,” and we decided to try it all!  After over two months of bed rest, it felt incredible to get out and walk. I drank raspberry leaf tea, ate pineapple, had intercourse, got a reflexology massage, and bounced on a birthing ball, but nothing happened. The days passed and we started to get nervous. I’d always wanted to try acupuncture, and this seemed like a perfect opportunity. I had heard that it could induce labor, so I was eager to try it. Courtney from OC Midwifery referred me to Anna Dolopo, and I called her Tuesday morning. (Talk about ‘down to the wire’! This was the day before my scheduled induction.) Although she was booked all day, Anna carved out time at 5 pm on Tuesday afternoon to come in and give me a treatment. Her office was welcoming and comfortable and Anna was very warm and professional. I immediately felt at ease, and her confidence in the effectiveness of her treatments made me feel even more confident that this would work. We all had a good feeling about it. Anna was admittedly assertive in her approach, since we didn’t have much time. After she strategically placed the needles, I reclined in a comfy chair and let them do their magic. I remember feeling light and weightless at one point and I was drifting off with a floating, half-asleep feeling. At the end of the treatment, Anna removed the needles and my husband and I headed home. We climbed into bed that night, hospital bags packed, resigning ourselves to the fact that we’d just go through with the induction in the morning, and at midnight my water broke! We checked into the hospital at 1:30 am, and after laboring on my own for four hours and eventually getting an epidural, I successfully gave birth vaginally to our beautiful baby boy and girl at 11:11 and 11:15 the following morning. We are confident that Anna’s acupuncture work lead to this happy ending of our birth story. Thank you Anna!

Fertility, Pregnancy, Delivery

January 12th, 2012

Welcome to the world, Edie!

Another beautiful baby

I would like to thank you, Anna, for your support, advice, and acupuncture expertise throughout my pregnancy.

I came to Anna in January of 2011 to begin acupuncture treatments to support in fertility in conceiving my second child. I have one healthy toddler boy that I had conceived while getting acupuncture treatments and my husband and I were now focused on growing our family again. I had been pregnant in the summer of 2010, but it had ended preterm in a miscarriage. So in January 2011 I began acupuncture sessions with Anna in hopes of becoming pregnant with my second child – and by the end of the month I was pregnant! My husband and I were thrilled to be expanding our family again – but also cautious through that first trimester, based on the experience we had had the summer prior.  I continued to see Anna once a week for acupuncture treatments to ensure a strong and viable pregnancy. By the end of 20 weeks, my pregnancy was going very well and we learned we would be having a baby girl!!!

I also visited Anna right before going into labor for help in inducing labor – I was three days past my due date when I visited her for a treatment and went into labor the following day and had my baby girl that evening – Edie, 9 lbs 5 ounces and 22 inches long.

Anna is incredible at what she does, and also very informative, knowledgeable and supportive throughout my pregnancy. Thank you!!!

Welcome another Precious Baby!

It is with absolute great pleasure that I introduce to you “L,” a beautiful new baby to the world, born to a mother whom I had helped become pregnant with the POWERS of Chinese medicine last year.

I would like to thank all of my “mothers” who have worked so diligently with me over the course of either the recommended 6-12 cycles, 12-18 cycles or 2-3 years in order to become pregnant naturally.

Please scroll below to read her mommy’s testimonial.

Today is a very special day for me because I get to share this with you.  Healing does take time.  It takes effort.  It takes persistence. It takes perseverance.  All I ask is that when you decide to work with me that you believe in yourself and give yourself time to heal physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.  I believe in this medicine and I’ve been training since 1994 to serve you with my best with the POWERS of Chinese medicine.  Just believe in yourself, show up for the recommended number of treatments and we are half way there.

Baby “L” is living proof that when Chinese medicine is applied properly, consistently and frequently, dreams do come true.

Congratulations, Mommy.  You did it!

It was hard to write this because I can’t find the words to thank Anna enough for what she did for me.  I started seeing her in the spring of 2010 for issues unrelated to fertility.  Very soon after I switched my focus to fertility because my husband and I were ready to start a family and it wasn’t happening as quickly or easily as expected.  She was very clear about the instructions for fertility treatments and the patience required to embark on this journey with acupuncture and herbs.  I was ready and willing to do it.  She asked for 6 – 12 cycles and diligence/faith throughout the process.  Understandably, my faith waivered as the months went on and she patiently provided me with kind words, hope, and support that I needed to keep going.  Many times I called her crying and she listened and encouraged me to press on.  By cycle six I decided to see my OB/GYN to confirm what I thought was low progesterone.  Sure enough my blood work revealed that my progesterone was extremely low and she indicated that I was not ovulating.  Her recommendation was that I start Clomid, which I was very much against because I didn’t want to introduce synthetic hormones into my system, especially after working with acupuncture. Also I knew in my heart of hearts that I WAS ovulating, regardless of what the blood test showed.  It was yet another hiccup in my faith in acupuncture but after supportive words from Anna, I decided to stay on the natural path.  A couple of days later I observed some strange symptoms and decided to take a pregnancy test (I thought what the heck—it can’t hurt!). To my utter surprise, it was positive!  I waited the weekend and called my doctor on Monday, went in for a pregnancy test and discovered I was three weeks pregnant!  I went from “not ovulating” to “pregnant” in a matter of days.  My doctor said stranger things have happened, but I knew what happened – acupuncture and herbs!!  My pregnancy was virtually problem free with the exception of having typical pregnancy symptoms.  In my 40th week I went to see Anna for natural induction because I was scheduled to be induced in my 41st week. As expected, it worked!  Two days before my induction my water broke and I went into natural labor.  Today I sit here with my beautiful nine-week old baby girl and I get misty-eyed just thinking about the road to get here.  I always refer to Anna as my angel because without her I would not be in this fortunate place.  Thank you Anna for making my dreams of becoming a mother come true.

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Acupuncture for Stroke

Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and acupuncture can contribute an important part of the treatment plan for a patient recovering from a stroke. Use of a range of conventional and traditional treatment provides the patient with the greatest chance for recovery of function, minimization of disability, and can also reduce pain and help the patient cope with frustration and other adverse emotional reactions to their illness. TCM approaches may also be used to lessen the side-effects of conventional medicines which may include lethargy and nausea.

Acupuncture has been shown to increase blood flow in areas of the brain immediately around lesions caused by a stroke, and so may facilitate brain repair and re-organization to compensate for areas of organic damage. Clinical trials indicate that acupuncture is a low cost treatment with few risks of side-effects. The absence in TCM of toxicity, which can result in side-effects is a quality that allows acupuncture to be safely used in conjunction with any conventional therapies.

Traditional herbal medicines such as Ginsing Zai Zao Wan and Di Huang Yin may also assist in the recovery from a stroke by thinning the blood and reducing platelet aggregation. Other treatments that may contribute to recovery include massage and electrical stimulation of acupoints. Electro-stimulation is a technique where small electrical currents are passed through acupuncture needles to add additional stimulation to acupuncture points. Electro-acupuncture has been shown to decrease pain, accelerate tissue healing, and significantly reduce inflammation.

TCM approaches are increasingly being incorporated into Western healthcare, and often the best care is a result of the full circle approach: taking into account a person’s mind and spirit as well as the body. Stress reducing massage and Asian Body Therapy can aid in recovery as well, taking the emotional stress of a person’s recovery into account.

My goal for is for each of my patients to have this kind of emotional and physical freedom to jump up for incredible joy.

When is the last time you felt like doing this?

When was the last time you did do this?

If you can, jump for joy RIGHT NOW because being alive in itself is a true and valuable gift.
